It has been observed that logistical challenges and absence of a conducive learning environment have stalled the growth of the learners and have compelled them to take the back seat in comparison to their urban counterparts.
Education is a powerful force for promoting opportunity and growth, the gateway to that is school. The environment that a school provides should not only be instrumental to learning but also provide a platform wherein, students and faculty share knowledge and expand its infinite possibilities.
With these ideas in mind, Better World Foundation has joined hands with the Government of Jharkhand to ensure holistic development of students through the development of academic infrastructure and enabling an inclusive and equitable educational ecosystem to groom and nurture learners in Latehar District. Capacity building for faculty is being undertaken with an aim to provide a better learning environment to the students ensuring better transfer of knowledge. Other important objectives include improvement of practical learning, logistical support, restructuring and re-equipping the library cum reading room alongside, giving access to safe drinking water at the school, equipping school playgrounds etc. In addition, installation of sanitary pad vending machines, and creation of a safe, hygienic and inclusive sanitation ecosystem is on the agenda.
Therefore, not only have we assessed the current gap, but have closely focussed on capacity augmentation, social behavioral change communication as an integral part of executing the goals and objectives to nurture the learners. District administration hence envisages schools where children can learn and play, schools that are welcoming to the children and reflect their local culture.
