To capture the functioning, status of coverage, associated bottlenecks and challenges for Jal Jeevan Mission, Community Managed Micro Irrigation Scheme and JOHAR – Irrigation Development.
Better World Foundation has partnered with Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA) to execute a critical assessment of water related programs and their execution in tribal areas of Jharkhand so that the learnings can be accommodated into the larger water policy framework. The fieldwork for the study was conducted in four tribal dominated districts of the state – Ranchi, Khunti, Latehar and Ramgarh.
The approach for the study was based on a standard framework developed by the IRMA’s Water Center that holistically aims to capture the objectives, targets, impact, fund flow mechanisms alongside gauging the cognizance of these drinking water and irrigation schemes with the vision it was conceived and the extent it has been able to deliver so far. On the one hand the study captured the beneficiary aspects of the schemes in order to gauge the extent of value delivered and upliftment in the quality of lives among the people. On the other hand, it analyzed the challenges that surface whilst execution of a scheme including the technical and administrative aspects.
